Star Trekkin'

This was originally a song from the late 80's by a band called The Firm. CJ brought a special version of it to camp in 2003, with actions for each verse. After singing a verse, all previous verses are sung again before singing the chorus.

Actions:
During chorus: ride your space horse and whip it when you say "Whu-psh"
1st verse: wave your hands in the air and spin around
2nd verse: hold your hands by your ears and point your fingers up like Spock ears. Nod your head and look around
3rd verse: fold your hands together, hold them to your chest, and punch forward
4th verse: wide diagonal hand clapping
5th verse: make the peace sign, and give a thumbs up

Star Trekkin' around the universe Whu-psh!
Star Trekkin' around the universe Whu-psh!

There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow
There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow Jim!

There's life here, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it
There's life here, but not as wek now it, not as we know it Jim.

It's worse than that, he's dead Jim, he's dead Jim, he's dead Jim!
It's worse than that, he's dead Jim, he's dead Jim, he's dead!

Ye canna deny the laws of physics, the laws of physics, the laws of physics
Ye canna deny the laws of physics, the laws of physics, Jim.

We come in peace, yes we do, yes we do, yes we do
We come in peace, yes we do, yes we do Jim

Grey squirrel, grey squirrel
Shake your bushy tail
Grey squirrl, grey squirrel
Shake your bushy tail
Take a peanut in your paw
And shove it up your nose!

Love Is All Around

I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Baah bah bah bah, bah bah baah
Love is all around me
And so the feeling grows
Baah bah bah bah, bah bah baah... (repeat this after every line except for chorus)

It’s written on the wind
It’s everywhere I go, oh yes it is
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show

Chorus:
You know I love you, I always will
My mind’s made up by the way that I feel
There’s no beginning, there’ll be no end
‘Cause on my love you can depend

I see your face before me as I lay on my bed
I kinda get to thinking of all the things you said
You gave your promise to me and I gave mine to you
I need someone beside me in everything I do, oh yes I do

You know I love you, I always will
My mind’s made up by the way that I feel
There’s no beginning, there’ll be no end
‘Cause on my love you can depend

It’s written on the wind
It’s everywhere I go,
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show

The Bricklayer

AndrewAndrew brought this rhyme to camp in 2001

Dear sir I write this note to you to tell you of me plight,
and at the time of writing I'm not a pretty sight.
Me body is all black and blue me face a deathly grey,
I write this note to tell you why I'm not at work today.
While working on the fourteenth floor some bricks I had to clear,
to toss them down from such a height was not a good idear.
The foreman wasn't very pleased he is a noble sod,
he said I'd have to cart them down the ladders in me hod.
Now moving all these bricks by hand it was so very slow,
so I hoisted up a barrel and secured a rope below.
But in my hast to do the job I was to blind to see,
that a barrel filled with building bricks was heavier than me.
And so when I untied the rope the barrel fell like led,
and clinging tightly to it, I started up instead,
I shot up like a rocket to my dismay I found,
that half way up I met the flaming barrel coming down.
Now the barrel broke me shoulder as to the ground it sped
and when I reached the top I banged the pullie with me head.
It caused a mild concussion from this all mighty blow,
and the barrel spilled out half its bricks 14 floors bellow.
Now when the bricks had fallen from the barrel to the floor,
I then outweighed the barrel and started down once more.
I hung on tightly to the rope me body racked with pain,
and half way down I met the flaming barrel once again.
Now the force of this collision half way down the office block,
caused multiple abrasions and a nasty state of shock.
I hung on tightly to the rope as I feel towards the ground,
and I landed on the broken bricks the barrel had scattered round.
Now as I lay there moaning I thought I'd passed the worst,
but the barrel hit the pullie wheel and then the bottom burst.
A shower of bricks rained down on me I didn't have a hope,
as I lay there bleeding on the ground I let go of the bloody rope.
Now the barrel being heavier soon started down once more,
it landed right across me as I lay there on the floor.
It broke three ribs and my left arm and I can only say,
that I hope you understand why I am not a work today.

The Titanic Song

RobSung by Rob

Oh they built the ship Titanic to sail the ocean blue
And they thought they had a ship that the water would never go through,
but the Lord raised up his hands and said that ship would never land.
It was sad when the great ship went down

Chorus:
Oh it was sad (SO SAD!)
Oh it was sad (SO SAD!)
It was sad when
The great ship went down
To the bottom of the sea - (Husbands and wives little children lost their lives)
It was sad when the great ship went down.

Oh, they sailed away from England, and were almost to the shore
When the rich refused to associate with the poor.
So they put them down below, where they'd be the first to go. . .
It was sad when the great ship went down.

Oh they lowered down the life boats on a dark and stormy sea
And the band began to play,
Nearer my God to thee...
Husbands and wives, little children lost their lives!
It was sad when it great ship went down.

Oh the moral of the story as you can plainly see,
Is to wear a life preserver when you go out to sea.
The titanic never made it across the raging sea
It was sad when the great ship went down.
Chorus

Ker-plunk! It sunk! What a lousy piece of junk! (made in ???)

The Organ Grinder

This song is actually called "Love me, love me, love" by Frank Mills.

Standing on the corner, just passing time away
I thought I heard the organ grinder singing as he played
He had a little monkey, and a little cup of tin
And he danced for joy when someone put a penny in his tin

Chorus
He sang "Love me, love me, love. Why did you ever leave me girl?"
"If you love me, love me love. Why did you ever go?"

I couldn't help but wonder how the old man got his song
The tragic tale of loneliness, how fate had done him wrong
Whatever made the made man want to brave the cold and rain
And tell the world his story, till death could ease his pain

I went back to the corner just to hear the old man play
A police man the old man died one cold November day
I waited for a moment, then sadly walked away
Though I couldn't see the old man, I'm sure I heard him say

Buddy Song

DaveWritten by Dave McKeage at Camp Goodtime in 1995.

Work up this morning at a quarter to 3
Alan and Cathy were sleeping with me
Megan punched Stephanie and made her cry
And a few rain drops fell from out of the sky
And it was raining...

Chorus

Puddles to the left, puddle to the right
It was raining all day, it was raining all night
It was raining.

I know a hut, it's hut #3
They always say buddy I gotta pee
I say can't you hold it a little bit more
They say no way, so they pee out the door

Anthony Elvis hips, power ranger kicks
Always gives everybody a hug and a kiss
Megan, Shelly, Bonnie, Chantal and Eli too?
Have all dyed their hair but in the rain it turns blue

Colin with his flashy, pearly white teeth
Constantly smiles so everybody can see
Heather says pumpkin, you are my pet
But when you talk, you spit and get me wet

The girls in hut 7 all fuss with their hair
But boys in hut 2 don't really care
And hut #6 say let's play a game
And hut 4 say it's wet, that's really lame

Hut #1 always smells bad
Because the deodorant Ross uses, he stile fro his dad
And hut #5 thinks they are so cool
But outside in the rain, they start to drool

The senior staff are all really sweet
But buddy's have real jobs and just come for a week
We dig camp, it's so great and we have lots of fun
But when the campers come out, do does the sun!
And it was sunny...

One Tin Soldier

Listen children to a story that was written long ago
About a kingdom on a mountain and the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own

Chorus
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven, justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after, one tin soldier rides away

So the people of the valley sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom: with our brothers we will share
All the secrets of the mountain, all the treasure buried there

Now the valley cried with anger "Mount your horses! Draw your swords!"
And they killed the mountain people, so they got their just rewards
Now they stood beside the treasure on the mountain dark and red
Turn the stone and looked beneath it... "Peace On Earth" was all it said.

Time Of Your Life

This song is actually called "Good Riddance", by Greenday. Rumour has it that it was originally written about a summer camp.

Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test and don't ask why.
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

We're Here for a Good Time

This song is originally done by Trooper. It fits camp well because of the words "Good Time"

A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I'd like to pass it on to you, cause I believe what he said to be true

Chorus
He said we're here for a good time
Not a long time
So have a good time, the sun can't shine every day
And the sun is shining
In this rainy city
And the sun is shining
Isn't it a pity?

And every year has it's share of tears
Every now and then it's gotta rain

Repeat chorus several times
